Our Vision

The Texas Association of County Elections Officials (TACEO) has the potential to be one of the largest public government professional organizations in the country. Texas is comprised of 254 counties, responsible for conducting elections and servicing over eighteen million registered voters and growing. The Secretary of State is the chief election officer for the State of Texas. The Secretary of State’s Elections Division aids and advises election officials on the proper conduct of elections. This includes hosting seminars and elections schools, providing calendars, ballot certification, primary election funding, and legal interpretations of election laws to election officials.  Across Texas, Election Administrators and County Clerks are responsible for implementing and managing secure and impartial elections. The purpose of the TACEO is to promote the efficient integration of voter registration functions with the actual conduct of elections and to ensure that voter registration, voting, and vote tabulation are conducted in accordance with the highest legal and ethical standards.
